Can Vietnamese lawyers be directors of foreign law firms?
Whether a Vietnamese lawyer can be a director of a foreign law firm is as prescribed in Article 72 Law on Lawyers 2006, as amended by clause 28 of Article 1 Law on Lawyers amended 2012 as follows:
Foreign law firm
1. A limited liability law firm with one hundred percent foreign capital is a law-practicing organization established by one or more foreign law-practicing organizations in Vietnam.
A limited liability law firm in the form of a joint venture is a joint venture law practice organization between a foreign law practice organization and a Vietnamese law practice organization.
A partnership law firm is a law practice organization that is a partnership between a foreign law practice organization and a Vietnamese law partnership firm.
2. The director of a foreign law firm is a foreign lawyer or a Vietnamese lawyer.
According to the above regulations, the director of a foreign law firm is a foreign lawyer or a Vietnamese lawyer.
Therefore, Vietnamese lawyers can work as directors of foreign law firms if they meet the prescribed conditions.
