Can temporary residence cards issued to foreign workers be used instead of visas?
As prescribed at Clause 13, Article 3 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam as explained, a temporary residence card is a type of document issued by the immigration management agency or a competent agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to foreigners who are allowed to reside for a limited period of time in Vietnam and has market value.
So, a temporary residence card, essentially a visa - a long-term visa, is an important factor for foreign citizens to stay in Vietnam legally for a long time (Temporary residence card is valid to replace the visa to enter Vietnam).
However, each case is different and the relevant authority will consider granting a visa or temporary residence card appropriate to the applicant's situation.
Thus, card temporary residency granted to foreign workers can completely replace a visa.
