The 5 revised procedures in the field of nationality include: Procedures for granting a Certificate of Vietnamese origin; Procedures for naturalization in Vietnam; Procedures for returning to Vietnamese nationality in the country; Procedures for issuance of Certificate of Vietnamese nationality in the country; Procedures for naturalization in Vietnam for Lao people who are allowed to reside in districts of Vietnam adjacent to Laos.

The procedure for naturalization in Vietnam is prescribed as follows: Applicants for naturalization in Vietnam submit their application directly to the Department of Justice where they reside. Processing time is 115 days and the Vietnamese citizenship fee is about VND 3 million. People with special contributions to the cause of building and protecting the Vietnamese Fatherland, people in difficult circumstances with confirmation from the People's Committee of the commune where they reside will be exempted from the fee.

This decision takes effect from the date of signing.
