In particular, related to penalties for administrative violations in the field of road traffic, Decree No. 123/2021/ND-CP has sharply increased the penalty for using an expired car driving license, and at the same time. shorten the time limit used as a basis for calculating penalties from 6 months to 3 months, specifically:

Fine from VND 05 million to VND 07 million for users whose driving license expires in less than 03 months;

- Fine from VND 10 million to VND 12 million for users whose driving license expires 3 months or more.

Previously, according to Point c, Clause 4, Article 21 of Decree No. 100/2019/ND-CP, the fine for using an expired driving license of less than 06 months was only from VND 400,000 to VND 600,000.

In case the car driving license expires for 6 months or more, the fine will be from VND 04 million to VND 06 million.

This Decree was issued on December 28, 2021 and takes effect from January 1, 2022.
