How to apply for a temporary residence card for foreigners with a DN Visa?

This content is specified in Article 36 Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam 2014 , as follows:

“Article 36. Cases of being granted temporary residence cards and temporary residence card symbols

1. Cases of being granted a temporary residence card include:

a) Foreigners who are members of diplomatic missions, consular offices, representative offices of international organizations under the United Nations, intergovernmental organizations in Vietnam and their spouses and children under 18 years old , a maid who comes along on a term basis;

b) Foreigners entering the country with visas with symbols LV1, LV2, LS, DT1, DT2, DT3, NN1, NN2, DH, PV1, LD1, LD2, TT.

2. Temporary residence card symbols are specified as follows:

a) Temporary residence card specified in Point a, Clause 1 of this Article, symbol NG3;

b) The temporary residence card specified in Point b, Clause 1 of this Article has a symbol similar to the visa symbol.".

Thus, temporary residence cards are currently only issued to people entering Vietnam with Visa LV1, LV2, ĐT, NN1, NN2, DH, PV1, LĐ, TT; As for the DN visa as you mentioned, it is not eligible for a temporary residence card.

In case you want to get a temporary residence card, this person should leave Vietnam, then apply to re-enter Vietnam with a new VISA and then apply for a temporary residence card.
